How to measure chocolate chips with a kitchen scale?

The secret to the perfectly baked good lies in the correct weight measurement of the raw ingredients. A good kitchen scale gives you precise measurements, both in grams and ounces.

Kitchen scales with the tare feature allow you to reset the display to zero after placing the measuring bowl on the scale. After resetting, you can measure the weight of just the contents of the bowl.

How to measure chocolate chips by volume?

In case you do not have a kitchen scale, you can rely on measuring cups to measure the chocolate chips. The measurements may not be very precise. Use dry or sticky ingredients in a dry measuring cup.

Use a liquid measuring cylinder for measuring liquid ingredients such as oil or water. Some of the most common terms related to measuring cups are given below.

Scant: A scant measuring cup is only a little shy of being filled to the top.

Level: A level measuring cup is filled to the top and scraped level with the back of a knife. The level cup is easy if the ingredient is in dry or powder form such as flour. Chocolate chips, raisins, and buts can become difficult to level.

Rounded: A rounded cup is filled to the top but not leveled so it contains a slightly higher amount of the raw ingredient than one cup.

Heaping: Heaping is when you generously fill or simply overfill the cup such that the cup holds the maximum amount of the raw ingredient beyond its capacity.
