  • 1/2 lb beef stew meat
  • 1 medium potato
  • 4 oz mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup carrots
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup unsalted beef broth
  • 1/8 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas


  1. Peel the potatoes. Dice the peeled potatoes, beef, mushrooms, carrots, and onion into bite-sized pieces.
  1. In a 4 quart slow cooker, dump the beef stew meat, potatoes, mushrooms, carrots, onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, dried thyme, black pepper, bay leaf, and beef broth.

How to make pot roast in a 2-quart slow cooker?


  • 2-pound chuck roast
  • 1/2 packet pot roast seasoning packet
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 4 small red potatoes, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, cut into chunks
  • 1 medium onion, large dice
  • 20 baby carrots
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, such as herbs de Provence
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper


  1. In a 2-quart slow cooker, add water and stir in half the packet of pot roast seasoning, Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well-combined.
  1. Add sliced chuck roast in the slow cooker and flip around so that it is evenly coated from all sides. 
  1. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours, high 3-4 hours.
  1. When there are about 30 minutes before the pot roast cooking time is up, preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  1. In a small mixing bowl, add cut veggies and season them with salt, pepper, and oil.
  1. Spread the seasoned veggies on a roast pan and roast in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
  1. When the beef fibers easily separate, the beef is done. Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it.
  1. Transfer the shredded beef back to the slow cooker along with the au jus. Then stir in the roasted vegetables. Mix to coat the veggies in the sauce.
