How to store a cut avocado?

You can store leftover avocado halves in your refrigerator for up to 3 days. 

Storing unripe avocado halves:

Sprinkle the unripe avocado flesh with lemon juice. Place halves together. Cover them with plastic wrap. Place it in the fridge. It is necessary to check its ripeness each day. 

Air-tight container + Onion:

This is an unusual method. You should try it to store your cut avocados. Take your cut avocado. Place your cut avocado in an air-tight container with some cut-up onion. Put it in the fridge. It will stay fresh for only a few days.

This method also works great with guacamole. Cut some onion, and place it on top of the guacamole. Then put it in an air-tight container. Then place it in your fridge.

Olive oil:

For this method, first of all,  brush your avocado with olive oil and then wrap it with plastic wrap. Take some olive oil into a small dish. After this, leave the cut avocado sitting face-down in the oil. If you want to maintain the standard taste of the avocado then don’t choose a flavored olive oil 

Water bath:

This is my favorite method. Chefs use this method often to stop their avocados from browning. First of all, take an air-tight container, and pour a small amount of water into it. Now add the halved avocado face-down. Seal up the container. Then put it in the refrigerator. This method will keep your avocado fresh for several days.

One disadvantage of this method is that it can make the outer flesh of the avocado a little slimey.

Leave in the pit:

It does not matter which method you choose to try, the key to success when saving half of an avocado is to leave it in the pit. If you leave the avocado pit, it will ensure that your avocado stays fresher (and greener!) longer than it would without the pit.

How do you freeze avocados for a long time?

Take out the flesh from the cut avocado. Dice it. Take a freezer bag, and store it in a single layer in this bag. Suppose you want to use leftover avocado for smoothies. For this purpose, you can pre-blend the fruit with a little bit of lemon juice or lime juice to form a puree. Put this puree in an airtight container and take it out whenever ready to use it. 

Thawing frozen avocado:

When you are ready to use frozen avocado, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight. If you have less time, then you can use the defrost feature on your oven. It will take less time. 

How to store whole avocados?

It is easier for us to store whole avocados than avocado halves because the peel of avocados protects the flesh from oxidation and it does not expose to air or oxygen. But you can still take measures to increase the shelf life of your avocado or in this way, you can speed up its ripening process.

Storing whole ripe avocados:

Ripe avocados are best stored in the refrigerator. It will slow down the ripening process. Try to keep them in the low-humidity crisper drawer of your fridge. Most crisper drawers will have a vent. The vent will allow you to adjust the humidity levels.  When you store them in this way, they’ll last between two and three days.

Storing whole unripe avocados:

You should store unripe avocados at room temperature. This will speed up the ripening process. Leave them on the countertop. Keep them away from direct sunlight. The process of ripening could take up to five days. You should check their ripeness daily by gently pressing on them to see if they yield to pressure.
