What is the difference between frozen custard and ice cream?

Traditionally, ice cream is made without eggs. This is what makes the frozen custard different from ice cream. Because frozen custard is rich and creamy ice cream made with eggs in addition to cream, sugar, and milk.

Moreover, the difference in the texture also sets the frozen custard apart from ice cream. Ice cream has a lighter texture than frozen custard. This is because ice cream making involves more churning and whipping.

The ice cream is whipped to incorporate as much air as possible, then it is frozen to firm up. The aim of churning the frozen custard is to introduce as little air as possible.

This makes the frozen custard denser than ice cream. Lastly, the frozen custard is mostly served immediately after churning for a softer and melt-in-the-mouth experience.
