Moreover, the mother should watch the quality and the quantity of her carbohydrate intake which is the only macronutrient that stimulates insulin secretion. So, the mother should eat unrefined products that are high in fibers such as whole-grain bread and pasta. 

In addition, the mother should avoid fruit juices and should eat whole fruits that have a low glycemic index such as strawberries, apples, and citrus fruits. 

Also, she has to eat three meals and at least two snacks to keep her glucose level within normal ranges and avoid cravings later on.
