Kransky contains 75% to 80% of pork meat apart from bacon and about 20% of bacon. It can contain as much as 5% of water, sea salt, garlic, saltpeter, and black pepper. No other ingredients are permitted so it can be called Kransky sausage. The meat must be cut into small pieces of about 10 to 13 mm and bacon 8 to 19 mm.

The filling is stuffed into pork intestines. They are formed in pairs and linked together with a wooden skewer. Kransky is smoked hot and heat cured at about 160 F or 70 C. 

It can be served with mustard, ketchup, and a piece of dark bread, most familiar known as a hot dog.

One important thing about salmonella is that it can cause bacteremia, a condition where there is bacteria in the blood and can be fatal to pregnant women. 

So why are pregnant women more likely to get infected? Because their immune system is compromised and does not work as well as for a healthy person. Also, remember that while the baby is not fully developed, the baby it’s at risk too.

  • Use a microwave: it is not the best option but heat the Kransky sausage for about a minute or two. Use a thermometer to be sure it is over 160 F  inside. 
  • Use a grill: just make sure that is over 160 F inside. 

Also, eat it in moderation as part of a healthy diet. In general, when pregnant you should follow a healthy diet. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
