3 cups of water

Cover the black beans with 3 cups of water and set aside. Please wait for 5 minutes. Throw away everything that rises to the top. 

Toss in 3 additional cups of water to cover the black beans. Allow to soak for at least four hours and up to several days. Drain.

Add 3 cups of water and drained beans to a rice cooker. Cook on the “Soup” option for roughly two hours, adding extra water as necessary. Drain.

How to cook and freeze beans?

Sort and wash the dry beans well. Select a few beans from the pot and place them in a big colander to drain. 

Discard any oddities, such as rocks, dirt clumps, broken beans, or shriveled portions. Dispose of them. After a good rinsing and swishing, have another look at the documents. Several at a time, drop the beans into the soak and boiling kettle and double-check their condition.

A pot with a lid should be filled with water that is at least two inches high, and the beans should be placed in that pot. To soak your beans quickly, simply set them and their water in a saucepan and bring them to a boil. Cook for 2-3 minutes at a boil. Cover the saucepan and turn off the heat. Allow for an hour of rest.

After rinsing and scrubbing the soaked beans, dry them thoroughly.

Pour in new water until the beans are covered by two inches of water. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan on the stove. Lower the temperature then simmer and cover the beans only slightly.

It may take anywhere from half an hour to an hour, depending on the variety of bean, to boil the beans until they are fork-tender and the skins easily peel off when blown on. Cook your kidney beans thoroughly if you plan on eating them! Kidney beans that have been left uncooked may be poisonous.

Remove the heat, open the door, and let it cool.

Strain the cooking water once it’s cooled down. Make sure your freezer bags are labeled and that you have enough beans in them to fill them. Like a can of beans, seal and store in the freezer until you’re ready to use them. It takes around six months to freeze beans.

For meals like stew or beans and rice, you can just thaw up a can of frozen beans and stir them in. They defrost quickly in a saucepan or skillet of hot water. For recipes that call for thawed beans, either take beans out all the night before or put the airtight bag in a big basin of hot water to quickly thaw them, depending on the recipe.
