These bittersweet factors are milk and sugar which can add a considerable number of calories to tea. A huge amount of added sugar is present mostly in bottled tea.

Sugar adds on calories to tea

A teaspoon of sugar is almost four grams which in turn contains fourteen calories. Sugar is a certain source of high calories in tea. Normal sugar packet, which is often served with tea in cafes and restaurants; contains almost ten calories.

Skimmed milk adds a little number of calories to the cup of tea. It provides twelve calories in a cup of tea. However, goat’s milk is the best thing to use in tea with a very low number of calories.

Contrasting to sugar, milk provides a substantial nutritional value to tea. Because milk is also a rich source of calcium, vitamin and high quality- protein and minerals.

Tea is one of the most favourite beverages of people in the world. The most used teas are green tea, black tea and oolong tea.  Black tea is mostly taken by the US people, green tea is the favourite beverage of the Asian people, whereas oolong tea is the most famous among people of China.

All these three are made up of the same tree’s products. The variety varies depending upon how the leaves are processed. There are many benefits of taking tea. It is the most organic and effective medicine for many diseases.

Green tea leaves are less processed to prevent them from any harmful chemical reactions and dried to keep their colour green. These are kept non-oxidized, so they impart lighter colour with more botanical fresh tastes. 

Consequently, it is considered the healthiest among beverages. Green tea helps in fat burning, prevents bad breath, cardio-vascular diseases and acts as an anti-ageing agent for the brain.

Black tea and oolong tea leaves are more processed than green tea leaves.  Black teas are mostly processed by using two methods: orthodox and non-orthodox or CTC. Black teas are fully oxidized before heat-processing and drying. In comparison to green tea, black tea is stronger in impact, striker in colour range and richer in flavours. 

It imparts colours ranging from tawny to dark brown. Caffeine in black tea reduces fatigue, provides energy, boosts up the metabolism, improves short term memory and mental health.

Oolong tea is partially oxidized. It has a wide range of health benefits. It is beneficial for brain, bone, heart, and dental health. 

Furthermore, it may improve metabolic rate, reduce the threat of arising diabetes, and protect from some kinds of cancers.
